In the use of water reducers, it can be used as an early strength agent, which can accelerate the early strength of concrete and improve the progress of the project. However, the application of early strength agents will also have some effects on the building, such as the decrease in the ultimate strength and later strength of concrete, and the change in the workability of concrete. Although the workability of concrete can be improved by typing ordinary water reducers into early strength agents, the cost is too high, and the early strength agent is unqualified or used improperly, which is easy to cause steel corrosion and affect the quality of the project. After passing the ratio test, high-efficiency water reducers can be used instead of early strength agents, which will not affect the quality of the project and the construction cost. In the application, water reducers will improve the performance of concrete regardless of the climatic conditions, including the homogeneity, density and fluidity of concrete; when water reducers are used, the water-cement ratio decreases, the amount of cement is reduced, and the production cost of concrete is reduced. Especially in the preparation of high-strength concrete, water reducers are indispensable.
When using water reducers, the following issues should be paid attention to:
①Ensure mutual adaptation with cement. This is the basis for the use of water reducers, and attention must be paid to the adaptability with cement. If the two are not compatible, not only will the water reduction effect not be achieved, but it will also cause the quality of the project to decline and the construction cost to increase.
②Correctly select the water reducer. In order to give full play to the role of the water reducer, the water reducer should be correctly selected in combination with actual conditions. Different water reducers cannot be mixed to prevent adverse effects on the quality of concrete.
③ Pay attention to the quality of the water reducer. There are many types of water reducers, and the quality of the water reducer in the application has a direct impact on the quality of concrete. Therefore, when selecting a water reducer, prevent some water reducers of poor quality from being used in construction.
④ Control of the amount of water reducer. The amount of water reducer has a direct impact on the quality of concrete. Too little or too much water reducer will not achieve the maximum use effect of the water reducer, and serious engineering accidents may occur. Therefore, the amount of water reducer should be strictly controlled when using it.
